What happened
L55 Team Member was changing the battery on a forklift. During installation of the charged battery one of the bottom supporting nylon strips broke free and wedged between the battery and battery compartment preventing the latch from securing the battery. Two technicians assisted in seating the battery but were unable to use the battery lift to free the wedged battery. The technicians decided to tilt the battery to remove the strip. During this process one technician (electrician) lost his footing and fell into a mobile cart behind him with the cart’s bumper striking the lower part of his back resulting in an injury.
