Description of Occurrence*: [REDACTED] [REDACTED] (Electronic Report) in the process of opening the spine board door on the back right side of the ambulance while it was raining i was attempting to retrieve a large cardboard splint for the pt in the back of the ambulance i placed my left hand on the back right corner of the ambulance while i stood on the curb next to the ambulance i used my right hand to open the door and once i had the door opened approximately 16inches wide i realized i was opening the wrong door at that time i went to push the door closed with my right hand which never let go of the door while i pushed the door with my right hand my left hand slipped forward from the back corner of the ambulance in the direction of the door that was closing and my hand was smashed in the door before i could stop my hand Activity Before Incident: assisting my partner in the back of the ambulance with a patient with a possible fracture
