placing IV

Staff assist was called to patient 's room for seizures. Patient came out of seizure and needed an IV. Patient became very upset about getting IV. Arm was properly secured but when IV was attempted patient bucked hips up causing the needle to jump and stick staff members left 3rd finger. IV attempt was halted and needle retracted and disposed of appropriately. small puncture mark noted to glove. Area washed with soap and water.
