What happened
EE was on scene for a call for service related to a motor vehicle accident on interstate [REDACTED] near mile marker 326 in the median. While on foot in the median multiple agencies were conducting work on the scene and [REDACTED] when to step out of the way of fire assets. While walking he stepped into a hidden storm drain grate in the darkness. The grate gaps were large enough for his entire left foot to slip in up to to his knee area. It is worth noting this leg is healing from a prior work related injury. The injury consists of a laceration with swelling. EE was transported by medics who were already on scene back to the Benson Hospital where 5 stitches were applied to the injury and x-rays are planned.
