Adjusting the timing on a running machine that had no fan guard.

Employee was performing engine adjustments on an older style Lincoln [REDACTED] welding machine these units do not have fan guards. While working on adjusting the engine which you have to do while the unit is running the employee 's hand was pulled into the nearby fan and he sustained injuries (broken bones and a laceration severing a tendon in his pinky). Followed up with Medcore and is on light duty unable to use that hand until the doctor follows up after his surgery [REDACTED]. *Added in service report from follow up meeting.
