Before the incident
Just prior to the incident the employee was in the process of removing a washer belt pin from the belt. To facilitate the removal of the pin the employee was utilizing a [REDACTED] utility knife. Specifically the employee was attempting to leverage the utility knife to dislodge the pin from its seated position within the belt.
What happened
While attempting to trim the melted end of a plastic pin to prevent it from dislodging from a belt the employee was utilizing a utility knife. Specifically the employee was cutting in a direction towards their body. During this action the utility knife slipped resulting in a laceration to the employee 's left thigh. The injury required stitches to close the wound.
