What happened

Asked to relive sitter to use the restroom. 5 minutes into me sitting in the room with the patient the nurse walked in. The patient was then startled and woke up aggressive. Patient stated that she did not need to stand over him and that he was sleep. The patient also stated that I will blow your brains out and that you don 't need to be standing over me like that. I tried to intervene by de-escalating the situation by telling the patient that he did not need to threaten the nurse as she was just trying to do her job. The patient then attempted to get out of the bed. I attempted to help him to the restroom after he stated that he did not want me to help. Patient was safely moved to the restroom when patient asked to close the door. I stated that I could not and was then threated. Patient got up and pushed me grabbing the door and hit me with the door in an attempt to close the door and get me out.

prior nurse left used needle on insulin pen. this nurse removed cap and received puncture to left thumb from used needle.
