Transferring a six-inch ingot from the finishing table to a nearby alloy pallet

On [REDACTED] an ASC Ingot Processor sustained a thumb fracture while transferring a six-inch ingot from the finishing table to a nearby alloy pallet. The employee reported pinching the tip of their left thumb resulting in an avulsion injury. Initial assessment revealed swelling redness and a laceration and the employee was transported offsite for further evaluation. Medical staff later diagnosed the injury as a fractured fingertip. The employee was authorized for time loss and will undergo further investigation upon return. Department initiated corrective actions including standdown training updated procedures and coordination with a lifting and rigging vendor to install a shackle or master link for attaching a no-touch tool to prevent manual contact near pinch points.
