Before the incident
Employee was cutting a point onto rebar while using a band saw to allow it to be driven into hard rock.
What happened
While holidng the rebar upright with his left hand approximately 15 inches below the cut point the employee cut the rebar holding the bandsaw with his right hand. Upon completion of the cut the bandsaw dropped quickly and fell onto the employee 's left hand causing a laceration to his left index finger through his glove.
