Before the incident
Placing sharp in sharps container
What happened
AFTER ADMINISTERING IV PUSH ANTIBIOTIC FOR THE PATIENT I REMOVED THE NEEDLE WITH ITS CAP FROM THE SYRINGE TO PUT IN THE SHARP CONTAINER. I DID NOT TOUCH THE OPENING OF THE SHARP CONTAINER. AS SOON AS I PUT THE NEEDLE ABOVE THE OPENING OF THE SHARP CONATINER I FELT A SATBBING ON MY LEFT RING FINGER. THERE WAS SOME EXPOSED NEEDLE ON THE TOP OF THE SHARP CONTAINER THAT WAS NOT VISIBLE AND SHOULD NOT BE THERE. MOST LIKELY WHEN THE PHLEBOTOMIST DID SOME BLOOD WORK HE SHE DID NOT DROP THE NEEDLE INSIDE THE SHARP CONTAINER.
