Before the incident
The employee was riveting fronts on their rivet machine (5898).
What happened
The employee was on the paint line at one of the rivet machines. When he was riviting the fronts the employee stated that he was moving too fast and as he was going down with the rivet he pressed the foot pedal to make the rivet function and instead of riviting the front he rivited his left thumb nail instead. Update* he later came back and said the rivet machine 's pedal was not working. So he sat the front down and put his hand in the machine while pressing down on the pedal(employee said he thought it wasn 't going to rivet since it didn 't the previous time) causing his left thumb nail to get caught in the rivet machine.
Injury or illness
Left thumb nail punctured.
Object or substance involved
The rivet in the rivet machine.
Summary line
