Holding down a psychotic patient to administer medications.

What happened

The patient was being belligerent and yelling. She was rolling around in the floor of her room. [REDACTED] 10mg and [REDACTED] 1000mg was ordered. The security team was called and two security guards came to assist with medication administration. Myself an ED tech and both security guards were present to help with this medication administration. The patient was laying in the floor on her stomach at the time of administration. The medications were administered in the left thigh and hip. Upon administering the [REDACTED] the patient began thrashing and started to roll towards me with the injection needle still in her. The injection needle was removed as the patient was rolling. The patient continued rolling on to the removed needle. This nurse attempted to stop the patient with my left hand but the patient was too large to be stopped and rolled on to my hand and the open and used needle resulting in the accidental stick.
