Before the incident

Employee attempted to stick a worker for blood and was unsuccessful. RN working the Industrial Event as well came to assist employee. RNwas able to stick the worker with a butterfly needle for the blood draw. After removing the needle from the worker RN turned around immediately without retracting the needle first. When she turn around the used butterfly needle stuck employee who was right behind RN when she turned around. RN exposed skin was cleaned immediately EH was notified employee went to the ED for treatment and the worker 's blood was drawn for labs as well. Need to follow up with RN on her process for retracting needles- please send to Director of Case Managment for follow up with RN and to OPS Manager to follow up with employee. What happened

Employee had a hard time sticking a patient and Nurse came over to assist. After Nurse stuck the patient she turned around and employee was behind her and she was stuck in the lateral side of 5th finger. Finger was immediately cleaned and patient referred to ER. employe attempted to stick a worker for blood and was unsuccessful. RN working the Industrial Event as well came to assist coworker. EE was able to stick the worker with a butterfly needle for the blood draw. After removing the needle from the worker EE turned around immediately without retracting the needle first. When she turn around the used butterfly needle stuck coworker who was right behind RN when she turned around.
