What happened
During the changeover process on [REDACTED] the IP was replacing the feed rail inserts in the feed conveyor system. The IP successfully installed the first insert and then picked up the second insert with their left hand resting one end on their right hand. While sliding the insert with their right hand a raised sharp edge (burr) on the insert cut through the gloves and lacerated the right side of their thumb. The IP received immediate first aid from a code blue member. The IP was wearing knit gloves with a nitrile glove over it. (Not the required cut resistant gloves designated for the task)
