The injured employee was erecting steel members from a single-man swing stage in an elevator shaft.

Injured employee was working from a single-man swing stage within an elevator shaft. During descent the basket got hung up on a previously installed horizontal tube member. The injured employee attempted to free the basket by putting their leg between the safety rails of the basket and pushing off of an adjacent vertical steel member. When the basket was free from the horizontal tube member it unexpectedly shifted downward resulting in the safety rail dropping onto the injured employee 's leg.
