Before the incident
Associate had just cut 2x material to build a block out for a double tee bed.
What happened
He was at his workstation nailing the 2x material together with air nail gun. He nailed the right side together with his right hand then used his left hand to nail the left side of the block out. When he nailed the left side the nail went into the wood fairly close to the top edge the nail followed the grain of the wood and pushed slightly upward which caused the board to splinter allowing the nail to come out of the top fly through the air and stick into his hand.
