Before the incident

Injured employee (EE) was working as a wrapper at the time of injury EE was working on the infeed side of the tunnel wrapper wrapping larger units requiring the use of the hydraulic tilt assist As the EE tilted one of these units up they allowed for the next unit to process through the wrapper before dropping the tilt assist When they dropped the tilt assist the unit began teetering as it balanced on the conveyors and began to fall The EE believed the unit was going to come out towards them so they brought their right hand down to protect them causing it to be caught between the frame and the metal rail on the tilt assist EE removed their hand from between the unit and frame removed their glove and found blood coming from their middle finger on the right hand EE immediately reported the incident to leadership
