Before the incident
Injured employee (EE) was working in the [REDACTED] area building crates at the time of the injury As the EE was utilizing a pneumatic fastener gun to attach 2x4s together to build the base of a crate for securing units destined for [REDACTED] shipping operations the EE reached across the workpiece and used their left hand to position the top corner 2x4 to a side runner The EE then brought their right hand which held the fastener gun up and over and attempted to shoot a nail into the 2x4 to secure it to the runner As the EE positioned the fastener gun and pulled the trigger the fastener gun shifted and the nail shot through and chipped off a corner of the piece of wood and the nail entered into the left thumb of the EE
