Preparing a motor for installation.

During a breakdown response two maintenance technicians were handling the failed motor to remove a needed mounting bracket for installation of the new motor. The maintenance golf cart bed was being used as a worktable and had the new motor resting in it as well as the old motor. The technicians were having difficulty accessing the flathead fasteners attaching the mounting plate on the old motor and opted to rotate the motor to see if the access improved. After setting the unit down the motor unexpectedly rolled pinching the technician’s arm between wall of the golf cart bed and the motor. This was due to a square mounting frame attached to the top of the motor which caused an unstable resting surface.
