What happened
Employee was attempting to retract the needle and engage safety device after patient received injection but the safety device was stuck and employee had difficulty engaging safety device. The unequal pressure from trying to engage the safety device caused the needle syringe to move and the needle caught on the employee 's glove accidentally poking them through their glove and sustaining a needlestick from a used contaminated needle onto the employee 's right index finger.
