Just before the incident the employee was stowing the food and snack cart in the aft galley.

The employee was in the process of returning the food and snack cart to its stowage position after service had concluded. The employee stated that while putting the cart into place the cart brake partially stuck and caused the cart to not move. As the employee applied additional force to move the cart forward the brake suddenly released. This caused the cart to move unexpectedly and rapidly resulting in the employee’s hand striking one of the red galley cart latches. The impact caused immediate pain and the employee applied ice to the injured area shortly afterward.
