What happened

Employee reported they sustained an injury while attempting to remove dough from a piece of equipment. After reassembling and restarting the equipment the EE noticed a piece of dough stuck inside. In an attempt to remove the dough from the forming molds the EE placed their hand underneath the safety guard. This resulted in the right middle finger being crushed by the mold blades. The injury caused a laceration and a fracture to the right middle finger. The EE immediately pressed the emergency stop but only after the injury had occurred. The EE was promptly sent to the emergency room where medical staff treated the injury. The hospital confirmed a broken right middle finger and applied four stitches to the right index finger. The EE remained in good spirits during treatment. EHS Manager visited the EE at the hospital to ensure they were receiving appropriate care and support.
