Before the incident
Preparing cold cutting copper pipe.
What happened
The employee was assisting another employee in cold cutting a copper pipe by holding it up while the it was being cut with a reciprocating saw. Once the pipe was completely cut the weight of the pipe (approximately 30 lbs.) was suddenly released. This caused the employees index finger to be caught between the pipe and a steel angle which was close to the working area. Was prescribed medication.
