Material Handling

At approximately [REDACTED] the operator of the buck hoist [REDACTED] was moving piping on a pipe cart from C level to D level using the buck hoist. As he arrived at D level he opened the gate of the lift and as he stepped back his left heel landed on the end of a piece of the pipe he was transporting. As this light impact occurred [REDACTED] felt a ?pop? in his heel. Since he has had previous Achilles tendon surgeries on both ankles he is familiar with the pain associated with an Achilles injury. He therefore surmised that the injury indicated by the ?popping? was related to his Achilles. [REDACTED] was still able to put some weight on his foot and continued to walk gingerly on the injured left ankle. He continued to pursue his work tasks for about 30 minutes before deciding that the pain was too severe to continue. At that point [REDACTED] notified [REDACTED] Assistant Superintendent [REDACTED] of his injury. [REDACTED] sat down and waited for further direction with [REDACTED] remain
