According to the injured worker?s statement he had just finished speaking with a driver regarding the positioning of a dumpster and was walking through a cleared section of the site when he tripped. The worker reported that he had nothing in his hands and was not using his phone at the time of the incident.

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] an employee sustained a laceration above the right eyebrow after tripping while walking through the demolition zone at the southeast corner of the arrival level. The injured worker reported that he was not carrying anything was not on his phone and had all required PPE donned including a Type II hard hat with chin strap secured. The trip was attributed to a 1.5-inch vertical edge resulting from partial slab removal during demo activities. The area had good overall housekeeping but the edge was not barricaded or signed as a trip hazard at the time of the incident.The laceration was initially treated onsite with basic first aid but due to the nature and location of the injury the worker was referred for further evaluation and treatment. The injury was classified as OSHA recordable due to the use of wound closure treatment derma bond and referral for diagnostic testing.
