The employee was performing routine desk-based computer work as part of his dispatcher duties.

The employee reported experiencing shoulder pain that he attributes to his work activities at his desk. The supervisor was not present at the time of onset and only became aware of the injury after the employee missed work and was asked to provide a doctor’s note. During follow-up discussion the employee stated that his shoulder discomfort developed while performing routine computer tasks and acknowledged that poor ergonomic posture at his workstation contributed to the issue. No witnesses observed a specific incident or acute event leading to the injury. Proper ergonomic posture and workstation setup should have supported safe and comfortable work performance. Under normal circumstances employees complete desk work without incident. Workstations can be configured to support healthy posture and minimize strain. In this case the employee continued working with poor posture until discomfort escalated into a reported injury.
