Before the incident
EE was building pocket heads and was holding a 4 inch piece of wood which he was nailing to a smaller 2 inch piece of wood of the same girth (this is called a spacer - used on pocket door frames). EE was using a Pneumatic nail gun shooting a16 guage 1.5 inch brad nail. [REDACTED] left forefinger and thumb were on either side of the piece of wood and the nail was being shot directly downward into the wood. The nail went straight down and then bent and shot out the side of the wood exiting through inside of EE s left thumb above the knuckle and exiting out the tip of the thumb. The wood and nail were attached to [REDACTED] thumb until the wood and nail were removed from [REDACTED] thumb.
