EE was at the [REDACTED] Metro District shop yard to fix an automated gate EE was grinding the gate with a portable grinder to prepare it for welding EE felt small felt piece of metal hit around his right cheek eye area but didnt think much of it as it has happened many times in his welding career EE was wearing PPE safety glasses gloves long sleeve shirt yet not the face shield require by policy and following all welding protocol hot work permit portable welding screen helper fire watch assistant After finishing his regular shift and going home for the night EE noticed that his eye was irritating him when he was getting ready for bed On closer inspection he noticed that a small piece of metal was lodged in his eye EE informed management at [REDACTED] day of incident and proceeded to go to Avon urgent care the following morning to receive care and treatment We are waiting on the doctors results for next steps
