Employee was working on the palletizer on line 2 changing the gearbox While installing the gearbox he had to lay on his back and lift it into place Gearbox estimated weight is 40lbs the shaft slipped out and he tried to catch it while it fell estimated 2 feet Gearbox struck him on the face 1 4 inch to the left from the left eye laceration is about 1 1 2 inch long and tapered 1 4 to 1 2 inch starting from the eye to temple He was gowned in Tyvex coveralls and was wearing safety glasses at the time of injuryInitial Injury Reports Comments 7 6 [REDACTED]: Employee was conscious able to respond to questions and was able to self apply pressure to wound No reported headache or vision issues other than blood stinging his eye [REDACTED] took him to the Urgent Care facility Security was notified shortly after injury and responded to the main shoe change for possible assistance with transport
