Description: Employee was dispatched to a contractor site to install a repair clamp on an abandoned service damage. While attempting to remove the damaged Tap and install the repair clamp to water main pressurized water sprayed onto his face knocking off his glasses off and into his eye causing severe irritation redness and swelling. The water main was still pressurized at the time repair was conducted. Suspected Cause: Employee should not have attempted to make the repair while water main was still under pressure. Immediate Actions Taken: Employee was driven back to [REDACTED] by assisting utility personnel for eye wash and treatment. He was sent to Urgent care for a medical eye evaluation.
