Before the incident
While on duty the crew (including the injured employee) were practicing throwing extension ladders on the front apron of the fire station.
What happened
While practicing throwing extension ladders on on the front apron of the fire station another firefighter lost control of an extension ladder that was not extended while attempting to throw it upright and required assistance to lower the ladder to the ground. The injured employee caught the ladder toward the tip end with their right hand to stop the ladder from falling to the ground. The force of catching the tip side of the ladder caused a sharp pain in their right wrist.
