The employee was preparing to remove a boring bar from the machine he was working on.

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] an operator was removing a boring bar from a machine. The operator was using their right hand to operate the machine and loosen the set screw holding the bar in place. The intention was to remove the boring bar with their left hand. The bar came out abruptly. When IP caught the bar they felt a pop and discomfort in their left upper arm. The boring bar weighs approximately 25 lbs

The injury was due to the impact to IP 's arm when catching the tool as it fell. Bruising was reported on IP 's upper arm after the incident. It was later found that IP suffered a partially torn bicep in the left arm and was prescribed medication when they went to the urgent care.
