Preparing her security documents inside a company vehicle for her aircraft security assignment on [REDACTED].

After the aircraft arrived and was parked the employee exited the vehicle and waited for ramp staff to position the mobile stairs. Once the stairs were secured she walked to the top and attempted to pull the side stair guard back to allow the [REDACTED] door to be opened. Her first attempt was unsuccessful. Due to the freezing weather conditions the stair guard was stuck creating resistance and making the task more physically demanding. She attempted a second time using both hands and applying more force. As she pulled the guard it suddenly broke free and she immediately felt pain in the muscle on her right side. The employee had strained her ribs while trying to reposition the stair guard. Despite the pain she completed her task. After the flight concluded she requested to go home and was released by a Junior Supervisor. The Senior Supervisor on duty was notified after she had already left. The employee initially declined medical treatment. [REDACTED] her pain increased significantly
