Before the incident
Employee was performing a complete bladder dissection on a decedent. During the blind step they are required to feel the anterior portion of the bladder with the non cutting hand and use the cutting hand with the scalpel to make the cut.
What happened
The employee was using a #22 piercing scalpel to make the incision and was wearing protective nitrile cut-resistant gloves. These gloves are cut resistant bit not puncture resistant and the scalpel used pierced the gloves during the procedure.
