Attempting to free up press head with bottle jacks Previous to this job was repairs on Infeed to COE Dryer

What happened

Employee was attempting to free up the 6 [REDACTED] Stripper [REDACTED] that was jammed up from 3 4X4 boards that were all stuck together on the pins from a jam up in the press Bottle jacks were being used on the 4 corners of the press head between the stripper plate and the slide in efforts to free the board from the pins Employee was using a longhandled sledgehammer to hit the southeast corner of stripper plate to assist with the bottle jacks because they were not freeing anything up yet During the 3rd moderate swing motion the employees right middle finger contacted framework from the infeed hold downs causing it to get smashed Employee immediately noticed blood coming through their glove and when they removed the glove they seen a laceration above their right middle finger 2nd knuckle Employee immediately reported incident to Production Supervision and was brought to local ER where they received 3 stitches
