Setting up work area.

[REDACTED] was cutting ductwork openings on the metal pan deck utilizing a gas- powered cut-off saw with a 14 blade. The ductwork opening measured approximately 75 x 30. The employee stated that after he had made his first verticle cut ( approximately 75 on one side of the opening) in a forward crouching posiiton his back began to hurt due to awkward positioning. As he raised himself to a standing position holding the cut-off saw with both hands to alleviate his back pain he mentioned that he pushed the slide control to the stop position while maintaining both hands on the saw in the stop position the blade was still free spinning with momentum and it was then that the employee unknowingly brought the saw to his left leg thigh and the blade lacerated the employee.
