Drawing Labs
What happened
I was helping another nurse draw labs for a patient. He was a little jumpy on the first attempt so I was holding hand still with my left hand while sticking with my right hand and the primary RN [REDACTED] was going to help with the tubes. I got the needle in and got blood return and pt began shaking his hand and yelling that it hurt. I attempted to calm the patient but he continued shaking his hand with even more force. The needle ended up slipping out and stuck my middle finger of the left hand that was trying to hold him still.
