Before the incident
Teammate reported that he was working in the boiler room flushing the boiler overhead condensation pipe he was not sure how much the valve was open The pipe was discharging into a 5 gallon bucket which had some water in it the Hot water had already discharged into the bucket and when he opened the other valve more condensation water and steam sprayed into the hot water bucket and splashed up on him causing burn to his lower upper right arm right shoulder Abdomen and hip Teammate Statement At about [REDACTED] on [REDACTED] I was draining condensate from the drip leg on the main steam line in the south west corner of the boiler room The bucket that collects the condensate water was about half full When I went to close the valve up high I inadvertently opened it more instead of closing This cause a blast of steam to go into the bucket splashing the hot condensate water out and unto my right side and arm I immediately stepped back under the safety shower and doused myself with cold water I
