What happened
A Woodyard Operator was changing the West Woodyard Chipper knives when he sustained a strain to his right middle finger.A Woodyard Utility working with the Operator removed the knives from the wooden crate placed them on the concrete at the base of the Chipper and leaned them up against the grate work platform. The Operator would then pick them up and lean them in front of the Chipper base to be inserted in the Chipper disc. The Operator standing on the work platform leaned over and picked up the first Chipper knife when it slipped in his grasp. As the Operator tried to catch the knife his finger went into the knife cut-out as the Chipper knife struck the Chipper base. The Operators finger was caught between the Chipper knife and the Chipper base.
