What happened

This injury incident occurred in the bread wrap area at the bagger #2. Engineering employee was part of a team working on the bread bagger #2. The versaloader and bagger machines are interlocked which means they stop in tandem. The employee had been working on this equipment with peers for a few minutes already and claimed to be watching how it ran at the point the injury occurred. Employee states he mistakenly believed another engineer stopped the line for him to make an adjustment when in reality the versaloader had stopped and then when it started back automatically the engineering employee got his finger nipped resulting in an avulsion (later diagnosed by the ER and follow up specialist as a partial amputation not involving bone) of the left thumb.
