EE was setting up tp weld a large castin (GOULDS [REDACTED] weighing approx. 650 lbs.) The EE used a hoist to place the casting upright on the floor inside his welding booth.

After the casting was set on the floor to be welded the EE stated that either himself or a piece of his welding equipment bumped into the casting causing the casting to fall over. As the casting fell it scraped against the employees right leg (below the knee) and landed on the top of the employee 's right foot. The EE was able tog et the attention of a nearby coworker who helped free the employee 's foot from underneath the casting. The ee immediately walked to the nearby locker room where he was met by management who had just been notified of the incident by the employee working nearby. THe injured eemployee called his father who arrived [REDACTED] and drove the employee to the South Shore Hospital in [REDACTED] (7 miles.) EE was wearing required PPE at time of incident

EE was diagnosed with a right-foot contusion. A fasciotomy was performed to alleviate pressure in the tendons and muscles of the foot caused by the impact of the object (Compartment Syndrome).
