Before the incident
The 40-foot steel frame was lifted into position using a hand chain hoist; however due to an upcoming crane pick it was necessary to lower the frame back to the ground to ensure the area was clear.
What happened
They were preparing to lift a 40-foot steel frame into position using a hand chain hoist. However it has been decided to lay the frame on its side to create space for a scissor lift to access the area. As part of this process the team is lifting the frame to place wooden blocks underneath it. Two out of three workers dropped the frame during this operation.
Injury or illness
When the frame fell the injured individual had his finger trapped between the wooden block and the frame resulting in a fracture to his fingertip.
