Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
the hazard of beign struck or crushed by falling bar joists
approximately 15':
a) 2304-2348 Delaware Avenue. Employees erecting bar joists into their
final structural positions were exposed to falling bar joists by
lack of welding the bearing plates on ends of the joists.
A feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to weld the bar joist
to the structural steel upon placement of such.
