Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) On or about 6/19/85, employee(s) were exposed to being struck by components of a pipeline fabrication being hydrostatically tested at a pressure of approximately 2360 p.s.i. as a result of the employees not being thoroughly trained and familiarized in the hazards likely to be encountered in the hydrostatic testing operation. Among othe methods, one feasible and useful method to correct this hazard would be to develop and implement a safety training program to completely familiarize employees in the proper procedures and the hazards associated with the hydrostatic testing operation.
