Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that:
a)Casa Mar Shipyard: An employee was exposed to a twelve foot fall when he
was
conducting rigging operation within three feet of the edge of a intermodal
container top
without the use of fall protection.
b)Casa Mar Shipyard: An employee was exposed to a sixteen foot fall when
he was
conducting rigging operation within three feet of the edge of an
intermodal container top
without using fall protection.
AMONG OTHER METHODS ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO ENSURE EMPLOYEES ARE PROTECTED
FROM FALLS AS REFERENCED IN PACIFIC COAST MARINE SAFETY CODE 2002
REVISION SECTION 15, RULE 1504.
