Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of developing legioninaire's disease resulting from exposure to legionella pneumophila bacterium: a) Production area, cooling tower - A water treatment and disenfection regimen was not implemented to insure the water reservoir of the injection molding cooling water system was maintained free of infectious microorganisms, on or about March 24, 1992. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is utilize the procedures outlined in the summary guidelines on "Control of Legionella in Cooling Towers", issued by the Wisconsin Division of Health.
