Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a 18 foot fall hazard in the next floor: a) Boiler house, column line 8.1 J elevation 182, employee was observed bolting up while sitting on a steel beam with the lanyard snap attached to the beam flange. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to wrap the lanyard around the beam and snap the hook back into the lanyard.
