Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees were exposed to crushing/fracture hazards due to unexpected machinery movement such as conveyors and other machinery associated with sawmill operations. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to establish and enforce an adequate lockout/ /tagout of energy sources procedure. To assist with the essential elements of this lockout/tagout procedure, a copy of 29 CFR 1910.147 "Control of Hazardous Energy Source (Lockout/Tagout); Final Rule", which becomes effective on January 2, 1990, is attached to this citation.
