Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physcial harm to employees: a. As of April 28, 1994, frequent inspections were not performed for the Demag 6 and 12 ton underhung cranes exposing employees to a potential struck by hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to perform frequent inspections of the underhung cranes in accordance with American National Standards Institute Standard B-30.11: Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes. b. As of April 28, 1994, periodic inspections were not performed for the Demag 6 and 12 ton underhung cranes exposing employees to a potential struck by hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to perform frequent inspections of the underhung cranes in accordance with American National Standards Institute Standard B-30.11: Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes. c. As of April 28, 1994, operators of the floor operated Demag 6 and 12 ton underhung cranes were not trained by the employer in the safe operating procedures for this equipment exposing employees to a potential struck by hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to institute a training program that covers the items in section 11-3.1.7 (Conduct of Operators) of the American National Standards Institute Standard B-30.11: Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes. d. As of April 28, 1994, operators of the floor operated Demag 6 and 12 ton underhung cranes were not required by the employer to pass a practical operating exam exposing employees to a potential struck by hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to implement a practical operating exam in accordance with American National Standards Institute Standard B-30.11: Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes.ng
