Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of explosion and/or fire from the build-up of static electricity in the non-conductive product being grinded; a) Production Area: Among other methods, one feasible method fo abatement is: 1) The installation of the explosion vent panels through the roof. 2) Installation of a static discharge apparatus which passes through the non-conductive products, dissipating its charge. Condition noted on or about 10/11/90.
